PICKLEBALL4HEALTH 2025: A Tournament for Wellness, Family, and Community
Sureena Shree ChandrasekarPickleball continues to win hearts across Malaysia, and this September, the sport takes on a new dimension with PICKLEBALL4HEALTH 2025, a two-day tournament that blends competition with wellness and community spirit.
Organised by the Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) in collaboration with the Putrajaya Pickleball Association (PUPA), the event will be held at First Pick Pickleball, AEON AU2 Setiawangsa on 20–21 September 2025, running daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Part of a Bigger Vision: Health Through Sport
This event is not just another tournament on the calendar. It forms part of KKM’s broader initiative to encourage healthier lifestyles among Malaysians, combating sedentary habits by promoting active, community-based activities.
Pickleball was chosen for its accessibility and inclusivity. Unlike many competitive sports, it is easy to learn, gentle on the body, and suitable for all ages. By featuring categories for families, juniors, and mixed teams, PICKLEBALL4HEALTH showcases how sport can become a fun, shared activity that strengthens both physical fitness and family bonds.
For KKM, initiatives like this serve two important purposes:
- Preventive Health – Encouraging regular movement and exercise to reduce lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.
-
Community Wellness – Building social connections that promote mental well-being, reduce stress, and foster stronger support systems.
By taking pickleball into the spotlight, KKM reinforces the idea that wellness is not only about hospital visits and treatment, it’s about prevention, community, and active living.
