Kelantan’s pickleball scene received a major boost with the conclusion of the inaugural BAGUS CUP Pickleball Open Tournament in Kota Bharu on 25 October 2025. Organised through a strategic collaboration between KASACA Sports and Bagus Pickle, the tournament delivered more than just competitive play, it showcased the sport’s potential to flourish in the region.

A Celebration of Community and Competition

The tournament’s atmosphere was electric, with paddles striking balls in rapid rallies and players demonstrating skill, strategy, and sportsmanship. Beyond the intensity of competition, the BAGUS CUP fostered camaraderie among participants, highlighting pickleball’s unique ability to bring communities together.

As a first-of-its-kind event in Kelantan, the tournament also served as a platform for local players to test themselves in a structured competitive environment. Champions were crowned, but every participant contributed to an experience that emphasised growth, learning, and connection within the pickleball community.

Strategic Partnerships Driving Growth

The success of the BAGUS CUP underscores the importance of partnerships in developing pickleball at the regional level. KASACA Sports, known for its grassroots initiatives, and Bagus Pickle, a dedicated pickleball platform, combined their expertise to create an event that balanced competition with accessibility.

Such collaborations are vital in expanding the sport’s footprint outside traditional hubs like Kuala Lumpur, encouraging new players, and establishing Kelantan as a destination for future tournaments.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Pickleball in Kelantan

The BAGUS CUP is more than a single event; it represents a step toward sustainable pickleball development in the state. By providing local players with opportunities to compete, learn, and connect, the tournament lays the groundwork for ongoing growth.

From Pickle361’s perspective, events like this signal a broader trend: pickleball is no longer confined to major cities or established clubs, it is taking root in regional communities across Malaysia. With continued support from organisers, sponsors, and local authorities, Kelantan could emerge as a vibrant hub for pickleball in the northeast, inspiring the next generation of players.

The BAGUS CUP proved that when strategic partnerships meet community enthusiasm, the result is more than a tournament, it’s a catalyst for long-term development, connection, and excitement in Malaysian pickleball.
