The global pickleball revolution is making a significant mark in Asia with the launch of the inaugural PPA Tour Asia 2025

This five-stop circuit is set to bring the sport’s top-tier competition to the continent, featuring events in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Fukuoka, and culminating in the flagship China Slam during China’s Golden Week from 1 - 5 October. 

The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) is the leading pro tour for pickleball, hosting elite-level tournaments across the U.S. and internationally. It showcases the world’s top players and offers some of the sport’s largest prize pools and ranking points.

The Asia tour boasts a combined prize pool exceeding USD$ 1.65 million, structured across three competitive tiers: Slam, Cup, and Open.

PPA Tour Asia 2025 Schedule & 2 Stops in Kuala Lumpur

Each tournament offers varying points and prize pools, with the China Slam being the most prestigious, offering 2,000 points and approximately USD$ 1 million in prizes, Cup offering 1,500 points (USD$ 500,000) and Open 1,000 points ($50,000).

  • Kuala Lumpur Open: 3 - 6 July (USD$ 50,000)
  • Hong Kong Open: 21 - 24 August (USD$ 50,000)
  • Fukuoka Open: 26 - 31 August (USD$ 50,000)
  • China Slam: 1 - 5 October (USD$ 1,000,000), featuring top global pros
  • Kuala Lumpur Cup: 9 - 12 October  (USD$ 500,000)

Malaysia’s Rising Stars: Jimmy Liong & Mia Athilla

Leading Malaysia’s charge are Jimmy Liong and Mia Athilla, two of Malaysia's most promising pickleball talents. 

Together with the rest of UPA Asia Trailblazers Class of 2025:

They are going to make historic debut at the PPA Tour Asia 2025; Their inclusion in the marks a significant milestone for Malaysian pickleball. 

This program, designed to elevate Asian athletes to the global stage, provides a three-month intensive training stint in the USA, offering world-class coaching and competition exposure.

Trailblazers Shine at Baton Rouge PPA Challenger

The Trailblazers made an impressive debut at the Baton Rouge PPA Challenger in Louisiana, securing four medals. 

Notably, China’s Yufei Long clinched the Pro Women’s Singles gold and, alongside Vietnam’s Ken Tam, earned a bronze in Pro Women’s Doubles. 

Yufei also teamed up with Macau’s Marco Leung to grab a bronze in Pro Mixed Doubles. 

These achievements underscore the program’s success in preparing Asian athletes for high-level competition.

Malaysia’s Growing Pickleball Scene

The inclusion of Malaysian players in international competitions reflects the country’s burgeoning interest and investment in pickleball. 

With local clubs and associations actively promoting the sport, Malaysia is poised to become a significant player in the Asian pickleball landscape.
